Rates Blooper

Waikato District Council say that the General Rates have increased by 4.25% this year. However, they moved a public transport levy of about 2% to the Regional Council, and, so, the correct like-by-like comparison is 6.25%.

But General Rates are only part of rates. The total rates increase for most people is probably 10-13%. The average rates increase is way above 4.25%.

You should receive postal voting papers on 9 Sep and you can post your votes from then to Friday 10 Oct. You can also hand in at the council offices, 15 Galileo Street, Ngāruawāhia 3720 up to 11 Oct 2025.
